Face of Danger
Roxanne St. Claire
Heat Level: 3.5 (Very Sensual)

Private investigator Vivi Angelino loves living life on the edge, but stepping into the shoes of a movie starlet to bait a serial killer isn't just a thrill . . . it's a ticket to the big time for her fledgling security firm. That is, as long as a certain risk-averse FBI agent stays out of her way-and out of her fantasies.

Assistant Special Agent in Charge Colton Lang isn't above using his well-worn rulebook to stop Vivi's latest walk on the wild side. But when they learn her client is involved in something far more insidious than bad acting, Vivi and Colt must work together despite the electrifying attraction arcing between them. For each new clue is bringing them closer to a high-profile crime with a dark and deadly truth at its core . . . and a cold, calculating murderer with nothing left to lose.

The third book in the Guardian Angelinos series is a thrilling roller coaster ride.

Face of Danger features Vivi Angelino and ASAC Colton Lang. Both characters had been introduced in the previous two books in the series. While I liked Vivi and Colt in the other books, I wasn’t sure if there was enough to them to have a book on their own. They had amazing chemistry together in Shiver of Fear, but I didn’t think it was enough to sustain a book. Boy was I wrong!

Vivi, who I thought of as a “what you see is what you get” type of character, completely blew me away. She is the confident, snarky, skateboarding woman of the previous books, but she is also so much more. Vivi is vulnerable and has a past that surprised me. I think that Ms. St. Claire did the most amazing job writing this character. She is one that will stick with me for a long time.

Colton Lang also had more depth than I thought. His overly cautious attitude came from somewhere and I was happy to finally know why he was such a stick-in-the-mud.

These two characters are the perfect example of opposites attract. Vivi and Colt couldn’t be more different. I think that is why they work so well. They play off of each other. One of my favorite parts of the book comes toward the end. Vivi wants to do something completely reckless and instead of saying no, Colt lets her be herself. He learns to accept her differences and love her for them.

The action in this book is non-stop. I couldn’t put it down. There were so many twists-and-turns in the plot. Ms. St. Claire managed to write a book with an extremely strong romance amid the chaos of murderers, human trafficking, and a whole cast of characters who aren’t who they seem. Face of Danger is a perfect romantic suspense!
