Review ❤️ The Rebellious Rancher by Kate Pearce

Attachment to the land, hard work, and community, sets the folks of Morgantown apart from the everyday, and always brings them back to the ranch—where they might even find love . . .

After his father decides to leave the ranch to his older brother, usually calm, steadfast Ben Miller struggles to deal with his resentment. When he’s invited to develop a trail riding experience on the Morgans’ dude ranch, Ben jumps at the chance. Soon he’s assigned a mysterious client, an actress whose family secretly wants her removed from influences in LA. Ben’s determined to teach her to fend for herself. But he quickly discovers she’s more than a pampered pretty face . . .

Silver Meadow believes she’s preparing for a serious dramatic role—one that will free her from her controlling parents. She’s certainly not going to be controlled by Ben, especially when he takes her out in the middle of nowhere to learn how to survive. Yet gradually, far from her cell phone, Silver begins to open up to him about her life—and finds they have more in common than they thought. Soon a romance blossoms—but can a jet-setting movie star and a homebody cowboy find the best of both worlds? . . .

Ben is feeling out of sorts since his father left the ranch to his older brother. He is asked to do a ten-day trail with a client who would pay him a good sum of money. He needs to step away from the ranch for a moment to get his resentment and feelings together. He just doesn’t anticipate the client being a famous actress.

Silver is an actress whose entire career has been spearheaded by her meddling father. Her entire family relies on her providing for them so Silver feels some sort of pressure. She wants to take the reins of her career but her father’s controlling ways are hindering her. I went into this novel completely ready to get hate Silver but found myself admiring her strength. I really disliked her father and his antics. There is self discovery for Silver on this trail and growth.

Of course the sex scenes are steamy. I didn’t expect anything less from Ms. Pearce as I have read some of her steamier books. The connection between Silver and Ben is undeniably.

The one thing that I disliked was the manufactured drama where the couple got together and separated more than once. I wanted Silver to put her foot down much earlier in the story. She had shown so much growth. She took care of Ben when he got hurt on the trail and even took the lead to make sure they got to safety. She listened to the poison her father spewed once she returned back to Hollywood instead of trusting her gut. It almost as if she regressed.

Overall, this is a cute cowboy story that is well written. I look forward to reading the other books in the series. I highly recommended for fans of contemporary western stories.
