Alex spirals out of control finding out that every one of her previous relationships settled down immediately after her. This sets her on a mission to find out why she was never “the one”.
Will Harkness has always cared about Alex from afar but knew that anything between them was impossible because of their complicated family relationship. After Will finds out about Alex’s escapades, he tags along with the hope in discovering how to win Alex’s heart.
Oh boy. I had some huge problems with this one. First, Alex is set up to give off strong boss girl vibes, but in the way that she is presented she comes across as spoiled, rude, and one of the most unlikeable characters I have ever read. She disguises her rude remarks and bad attitude as “brutal honesty” which it isn’t. After the halfway point, I am supposed to believe that now she believes in romance and love because Will finally decides he loves her. He deserved better, and she deserved to be in therapy to become a functioning adult before getting into a relationship.
If you’re a fan of snarky and strong heroines like those of Alexis Daria and Tessa Bailey then give this a try. It might work better for you than it did for me.
